In the best ethos of the U3A, we are currently operating as two groups of ‘self-starters’ helping each other to study and consolidate our learning. It’s also good fun!
We use a combination of tools:
- The online course Duolingo to get to grips with the basics of French grammar
- BBC Talk French audio CDs and books for the conversational aspect
Owing to this study method, which involves the use of a single computer, our groups are limited to 3-4 people. It also means that we do not require a special venue and so meet in group members houses, currently forthightly on Mondays.
It is possible to start more groups as required. If 3-4 people want to start another group on the same lines, we would be happy to help with the setup and familiarisation with the study tools.
As all groups are independent of one another, the day, time and frequency of meetings are decided by the members of each group.
