The Wellbeing group is somewhere you can put aside your everyday life (with all that entails) for an hour and a half and indulge in very gentle exercise and relaxation. We aim to meet twice a month. We plan the dates each term, and pay in advance. You will find us at the Shado Centre (an excellent venue, warm, quiet and reasonably priced) always on a Monday, 2 – 3.30pm. I open the building 10-15 minutes earlier so members can arrive and settle before we begin.
ShiBashi is similar to TaiChi, but without the footwork !! You can stand or sit to do the gentle exercises. They stretch the upper body, improve posture and balance, plus massaging the internal organs. Some of our group have previously enjoyed TaiChi or Yoga, others have different backgrounds or done very little exercise. We don’t rush, we work together, I can honestly say there is no criticism of others; we are certainly not aiming for Olympic standards.
The latter part of our time together is spent meditating – again you don’t need previous experience. Some like to meditate lying down, as they have experience of Body Scan at the end of yoga sessions which always take place on the floor. If you feel confident about getting back into the upright position, feel free to bring your old Yoga mat along with you.
I like to think that we are a friendly, welcoming group – but I am biased, I think my group are lovely!!
