Seven people expressed an interest but the minimum number to keep the price quoted in the U3A magazine is 15. Greatdays Holidays are currently keeping us in mind in case another U3A decides to go and we could join them.
There are currently two October dates and one in June this year. The June dates are Sunday 23rd to Thursday 27th June, flying Bristol to Dublin.
Accommodation is at Treacy’s Hotel, Enniscorthy. Coach travel is with Bartons Coaches.
Package includes flights by Ryanair with 1 piece of hold luggage per person, coach travel in Ireland, 4 nights’ en-suite accommodation with dinner and breakfast; excursions to Waterford City and Waterford Crystal; Wicklow, Glendalough and Mount Usher; Kilkeny and Dunbrody Famine Ship. Entertainment each night includes a Celtic Roots Show and free bar between 6 and 9 pm.
With airport transfers in Dublin, the quotation I have received from the tour operator is £546 per person (twin/double) with £67 single supplement, based on 15 persons travelling.
If you prefer travelling by ferry, that is something the tour operator can do with a coach from Saltash. I won’t travel with Ryanair as I think they are too unreliable. However, the tour operator is willing for us to arrange our own flights (Easyjet) and pick up the tour in Ireland – at reduced cost of course.
Options are, coach and ferry to Ireland, Ryanair flights with or without airport transfers in Ireland, Easyjet flights and pick up tour in Ireland (we would take the Falcon coach from Plymouth to Bristol).
